Mosaic Brain

Mosaic Brain has been indoors all winter making art with kids from the Guinotte Housing Development at Garrison Community Center (Thursdays 5 to 8 pm), and young people in the Jackson County Family Court System through the Sentenced to the Arts Program.  Spring starts programs that focus on community improvement through the arts.

Join Mosaic Brain, HNCAC, and the Kauffman Youth Scholars on Saturday, April 21, for National Youth Service Day.  Over 300 people will participate in 11 projects to improve the St. John’s Avenue Corridor.  Check the website for details at www.mosaicbrain.org and volunteer to make a difference!

Founders and HNCAC Board Members, Wolfgang Bucher and Bryan Jordan, have worked in different areas of youth development, and shared a vision to create an organization specific to the area they live.  “It was really a decision to focus on the kids that we see in our own neighborhood,” says Bucher.  “We work with kids during the after school and evening hours.  Both are high risk times of the day for young people.”

First Fundraiser for Mosaic Brain (youth arts organization)

A developing arts organization needs funds to do its work.  This past November, as its first duty of service, Mosaic Brain board members sponsored the “Cups for a Cause” fundraiser, a silent art auction of hand glazed mugs and original artwork on Thursday November 9th, 2006 at the Upstairs Gallery.  Over 250 people attended to support Mosaic Brain.  Fast Johnny Ricker, Davis Ricker and Makuza provided great live music, while attendees munched on delicious donated goodies from Blue Koi, Starbucks, and area home-school moms.

Many thanks to our other sponsors; River City Solutions, Mail Print, Inc., and Pan-Educational Institute.  Without the volunteers, many of whom appeared spontaneously, the event would not have been as successful.  So far, the event has raised over $3,000.00 for Mosaic Brain.
